Little Village Community Development Corporation (LVCDC) and Alivio Medical Center are proud to announce the opening of a new school-based health center at Little Village Lawndale High School Campus!

The Alivio Medical Center at Little Village Lawndale High School is the result of many years of hard work. Obtaining a new high school was the first hurdle.  CPS renewed its commitment to build a new high school only after parents and community members went on a 19-day hunger strike that attracted national attention.

The second hurdle was to accomplish the community’s wish for a school-based health center.  Two of LVCDC’s partners helped turn this dream into a reality: Alivio Medical Center and CITGO Petroleum Corporation.  After receiving a $400,000 start-up grant from CITGO in 2006, LVCDC partnered with Alivio Medical Center to provide the health care services at the center.

The clinic will offer clinical services, mental health counseling, and health education both in the classroom and through peer education.  The clinic will be staffed with a full time team of two Certified Medical Assistants, a Family Nurse Practitioner, and a Licensed Clinic Professional Counselor. All staff is bilingual and/or bilingual bicultural.
